Hidden Playground is a registered 501(c)(3) Non Profit Organization
We are an outdoor academy that centers around nature education and movement literacy. We offer private adult parkour lessons as well as family-oriented learning/fitness. Whether you’re interested in obstacle course training, balance, athletic development, body awareness or just general mobility, our classes allow students to test their limits in a supervised environment and rediscover the youthfulness and resiliency their bodies may have forgotten with time.
Our curriculum is inspired by the teaching philosophies of leaders like Georges Hebert and Richard Louv. Activities such as jumping, climbing and crawling are just a few components of our lessons that encourage human movement and everyday mobility. Every group session can be tailored to fit any fitness level. No matter how old you are, how much you weigh, or how recently you’ve been to the gym, all we ask is that you come with an open mind, ready to play like a kid again! You don't need to be fit to be able to move.
Risk-management, testing limits, and body awareness are all vital to human development. Do you remember climbing trees as a kid? When was the last time you witnessed that in the last decade? Unfortunately, today’s culture encourages sitting for long hours, wearing shoes at all times, and going to the gym to run in a hamster wheel. We believe in the power of being outdoors. The science of play has recently risen to the interest of educators and psychologists alike. Studies are finding that play can be one of the most effective methods for learning in both children and adults. With our guidance you can increase your mobility and improve your overall fitness while simultaneously having fun.
After training with us for a few weeks you will start to see the world a little differently, a little more playfully, a little more creatively. A handrail might not be a handrail but an obstacle; a wall might not be barrier but an opportunity. Join us and find your own hidden playground.
